About HM Newton

For each project I execute, my intentions differ, allowing me to pursue various approaches. I employ both digital and traditional media in my work, with sometimes both utilized in one illustration. My projects are playful and on the verge of campy. I’m often attracted to the vitality and gaudy nature of saturated warm colors. Additionally embedded in my work is a ‘hand made’ quality that surfaces in a variety of ways and my digital endeavors are no exception. My overarching intent is to create anachronistic images that appear contextually ambiguous and occasionally uncanny. The drive behind what I make is a simplistic but powerful motivation that most artists can relate to: the desire to see specific images in my mind’s eye fully realized. These images have a combination of qualities I cannot find in preexisting media.
